Obama Needs To Accept That Haiti, As A Nation, Does Not Exist Anymore

Haiti is about the size of Maryland and a big chunk of the population lives in or near Port-Au-Prince, maybe a third of the total, depending on what you count as a suburb. So the collapse of Port-Au-Prince is a big, big deal for the country as a whole. It’s a dominant city for Haiti. Plus Jacmel seems to be leveled.
From the reports I have seen, my tentative conclusion is that the country as a whole is currently below the subsistence level and will remain so for the foreseeable future.

Forest Oil Sees 52-Week High Thanks To New Production

Two wells in the Texas Panhandle that exceeded expectations have sent shares of Denver’s Forest Oil Corp. to a 52-week high.
AP: Forest Oil said crude production from its most recent wells in the Granite Wash has been so prolific it may equal assets that were sold in West Texas as the company narrowed its focus on tight-gas and shale formations.
“Our Texas Panhandle Granite Wash program continues to exceed our expectations, not only from the extremely high gas rates, but also the strong liquid components associated with these wells,” H. Craig Clark, president and CEO, said in a statement.
Both wells have produced the equivalent of 37 million cubic feet per day of gas and oil.
Forest Oil Corp shares climbed $2.39, or nearly 9.5 percent, to $27.51 Thursday, after trading as high as $28.72.

Jay Leno Just Kicked Out Of 10 PM

The Jay Leno Show at 10 p.m. is officially kaput.
NBC just released their 10 p.m. schedule, set to air after their Olympics ends on Feb. 28.
There’s no Jay Leno Show in sight:
Monday: Law & Order
Tuesdays: Parenthood
Wednesdays: Law & Order: SVU ,
Thursdays: The Marriage Ref
Fridays: Dateline (9 p.m. to 11 pm)
According to People, Conan’s last night as host of The Tonight Show will likely be next Friday (Jan. 22), a source close to O’Brien told them.
NBC is still figuring out how to move Leno back to late-night by bumping O’Brien to midnight without getting slapped with a breach of contract fee. So far, O’Brien has refused NBC’s plan.
