House Of The Day: Check Out This Waterfront New York Mansion For Auction

Right now, many houses are going up for auction across the United States as owners come to terms with difficult financial positions.
We’ve picked one, only 55 miles from Manhattan, that is hitting the market on August 14.
Nicknamed “Gable Hill,” this estate lies on 2.69 acres of land and overlooks the water.
It was only completed in 2009. If you’re intrigued, there is an open house August 8.

OFFICE TOUR: Behind The Scenes At Bloomberg TV
Last week we got a special-access, behind the scenes tour of Bloomberg TV.
Bloomberg runs a very smooth (high security) operation on 59th and Lexington, and the TV newsroom is an efficient and streamlined place.
The reporters we spoke with were very friendly and on top of their game, as they juggled filing, going on air, and tweeting.
It’s a fast-paced, cool place so needless to say we took a lot of photos.

CHART OF THE DAY: The Housing Market Is Ugly EVERYWHERE
Today, the Case-Shiller Home Price Index numbers were released and Las Vegas was the only city that showed a decline in values, falling 0.5%.
But that exclusivity belies the reality that many markets across the U.S. are not performing well. Charlotte continues to not show an improving year-over-year trend, according to Deutsche Bank. That could be a result of layoffs from two of the city’s biggest employers, Wachovia and Bank of America.
But many other U.S. cities are also not experiencing the growth they’d hope for, with Detroit a notable depressing site.
